Chatnet's Committee's and the reasons behind them

Chatnet strives to meet the expectations of its users. In order to do that, we set up committees. Each with its own purpose, and with the sole end intention of helping our users to expand and grow with our network. With our committees, what we hope to do, is cut down on the abusive nature of some people, help keep our servers stable, bring servers onto the network that are stable and able to handle a high userload, have people always around to help with Channel services, and finally review the overall nature and end results of decisions made by our staff, the operators and administrators of the network.

Channel Services (Cservice)

Channel Services, also known as Cservice, can be found in #Doghouse and is there to assist users when having problems with K9, the official ChatNet channel bot, or registered channels in general. The members of Channel Services, as well as the other services on ChatNet are there to help make your IRC time a pleasurable experience. Visit: http://cservice.chatnet.org

Coder Committee (Coder-Com)

It is the responsibility of the Coder Committee to maintain, debug and improve the ChatNet Internet Relay Chat Daemon (IRCD). This includes the protocol used for server-server communication and for client-server communication as well as the documentation of said protocols. Visit: http://coder.chatnet.org

Executive Committee (EC)

The Executive committee consists of some of the longest members of ChatNet, with their mission being to manage and guide all members of the chatnet staff.

Help Committee (HelpCom)

The Help committee is the branch of ChatNet dedicated to providing users with solutions and answers to their queries, covering a range of subjects, from network issues to help with operating systems and applications. Members of helpcom can be found in #Help, and they are always ready to assist you.

Operator/Administrator Training Committee (OATC)

The Oper/Admin training committee are a group of experienced ChatNet staff that help train and guide new operators/administrators on the ChatNet network.

Routing Committee (CRC)

Routing Committee is responsible for reviewing potential server links as well as maintaining current network stability for ChatNet. The ChatNet 2000 expansion plan will hopefully bring new worldwide connectivity to our growing network within the coming millennium. Visit: http://routing.chatnet.org, or join #Routing.

Review Committee (suspended)

The Review Committee was put into place to go over all the current issues on Chatnet. They discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of our network. It also has a user involved in it. By doing this, we make sure that the users have a voice on Chatnet. When they all come to a mutual agreement, be it via email, or via a meeting, they are able to present their ideas to Cadmin.

Web Committee (Web-Com)

Web-Com keeps the Chatnet.org site up to date with the best information any user would ever want, or need on IRC. We are a small group of people who maintain this site for you, and we can be found in
#web-com.
