Welcome to the home of a new look for an old network. ChatNet is rebuilding itself and is growing into a completely new animal. After years of relegation to the figurative bottom of the food chain, ChatNet's Routing committee has undertaken a new and relatively large development task. Few Internet Relay Chat networks last more than a short period, let alone have the staying power to rebuild themselves repeatedly to change with the times. After a long and tenuous stint walking in the shadow of younger and and more aggressive IRC networks, ChatNet is waking up. The network is making markedly large steps toward becoming everything that the other IRC networks claim to be.

At the front of these changes is ChatNet's Routing Committee.

After claims of development and veritable years of waiting for results, the Routing committee has taken the task to heart. ChatNet is changing. It is becoming a network that is truly for the users. This means all users, regardless of their locale. In the past the network did not grow as it should have. This was because we have had our fair share of ChatNet IRC Operations members, ChatNet IRC Channel Services, and ChatNet Committee members who have treated the users with near disdain. This is not acceptable, and these committee members are now gone. What does this leave behind? A network that is willing to work with its user base to create an environment that is both comfortable, and user friendly.

We have spent the past three years with limited and twilighted services. At times we have even been bereft of Services altogether. The time has come for that direction to be defined by cutting out the dead weight of the network. ChatNet has remained on the same out dated, and over written IRC Daemon since May of 2000. The modifications to the IRC Daemon were intensive, and they with in themselves created an unstable, and resource intensive monster. The ideas used in the development of the IRC Daemon were very sound, but the modifications made, created their own problems.

If you are interested in seeing what the CDRC has in store for the future, please read on. This site contains the information regarding the Development of the ChatNet IRCD, as well as the Services provided. There is also all of the information that is required to Link your server to ChatNet.

With that said, Let me welcome you to the new ChatNet Internet Relay Chat.
