Resolution 10
FON restructuring
passed by cadmin
Our proposal is the following:
---
1] Name
Current: Friend of Network aka FON
Suggested Change: Friend of Admin/FOA
So that the actual people who hold this designation better suit the actual
title.
2] Global Official Channel Access
Current: 500
Suggested Change: 200
Kreon had suggested the possibility of a FON causing some deleterious
results. In actuality FONs need a minimum of 100 access to
voice/op/deop/ban/unban. There was a time when being a FON meant you
couldn't even ban. Having them at 500 keeps opers from removing/suspending
them, but the idea should be reinforced that FONs are not opers equals.
3] Constitutional Definition
Current:
[ Friend Of the Net (FON) ]
The FON is a person of high regard that is sponsored by an admin for a
special status in #nuthouse
or #help, but may not be of ircop material. The FON may be not interested in
being an ircop, may be
evaluating being an ircop in the future, may be too young to be an effective
ircop, may be a truly
helpful channel master in their channel, or may be any individual that an
admin wishes to recognize
for the individual's contribution to ChatNet. An admin must sponsor a FON
and if any other ChatNet
official objects, the individual may not be a FON. FON abuse will not be
tolerated and FONs may be
removed by a majority vote of voting cadmin members.
Suggested Change:
[ Friend of Admin (FoA) ]
An FoA is a user sponsored by an administrator for the purpose of observing
and participating but not interfering in official channels. They will have
200 access in official channels as to not interfere with official channel
operation. Upon their addition, any network official can challenge this if
they feel the user should not have this status, in which case the user shall
not be added. At any time if a voting party on cadmin wishes to object to
this user's continuance as an added user in #help or #nuthouse, a vote can
be called for removing the user.
