ChatNet Old Stuff#NUTHOUSE CODE OF CONDUCT (REFORMED)
Proposition By Oper-Com, passed by cadmin on the 16/10/1999.
#NUTHOUSE CODE OF CONDUCT (written by Sean on behalf of Oper-Com).
Going along with the ChatNet constitution, #nuthouse abides by a
common sense policy. Here are some guidelines. No rules are set in
stone.
#Nuthouse is the administration channel for ChatNet and is run by
IRC administrators and operators of the network. Since this channel
represents the network as a whole, a professional and courteous
manner must be maintained by all ChatNet officials when users are
present and being assisted. Helping people should be a priority if
you are available in #nuthouse, though every user doesn't have to
be greeted, nor should be.
[1] Possibly offensive K9 comments should be changed since it's not
easy to ignore K9. Personal disagreements are not to be dealt with
in open channel, if a problem of this sort arises it should be
addressed to the oper's or FON's admin or a suitable third party
representative, or taken to Chatworld opmsg, private message, or
#chatnet for further discussion. #chatnet was designed to bring
ChatNet officials together so don't hesitate to use it when needed.
[2] Users who interfere with the help being administered or cause a
channel disruption of any kind can be removed from the channel
through kick or a ban.
[3] IRCD limits the number of bans a channel is allowed. All bans
set for the channel that are in the server are subject to removal
in a cleaning out process of the channel bans. If you want the
ban to stay, use K9 to set the ban. Bans set through K9 stays in
K9's database until they expire or are removed. Bans in K9 should
only be removed by the person who set them. An administrator can
remove bans if the user setting the ban has been consulted or if
a user is needing assistance is banned as a result. Excessively
long bans tend to hinder the help process and should be used only
minimally.
[4] If you have personal disagreements with a specific individual,
it is always better to just /ignore them. It is probably the case
that not everyone dislikes that person, and not being able to see
them talk makes them a lot easier to be around.
[5] There is rarely a need to have clones in #nuthouse. Clones or
bots are permissible if a question/problem which would require
them arises. Otherwise, they shouldn't be allowed in #nuthouse.
[6] There is no need to have a bot in #nuthouse at any time. The
only allowed bots are the services, ChatWorld and K9.
[7] #nuthouse is not associated with #doghouse and ChatNet Channel
Services help. Users seeking help concerning K9 and ChatNet Channel
Services can be assisted by any ChatNet official who is knowledgeable
enough to do so. IRC operators who miss inform users of how to use K9,
or rules about K9, should be reprimanded in private. If an operator
isn't sure of the answer, then they should tell the user to come back
when a Channel Services person is available, or get help from another
ChatNet official.
[8] Using popups, using color, and playing sounds in #nuthouse should
be limited if at all possible. If assistance involved with any of
these things is required, it should be conducted in #help or another
venue. #Nuthouse is a network Channel for NETWORK related help.
[9] Friends of the network are welcome in #Nuthouse as long as they
abide by the code of conduct and maintain a friendly atmosphere in
#Nuthouse. As with most problems, if they become one, they should be
told and the problem fixed. If they don't want to get along, then they
can move along. If they are an asset to the Network, addition to K9 is
permissible by a admin providing there are no objections and someone
takes responsibility for the "friend's" actions. Users in #Nuthouse
that interfere with the Operators providing help to users should be
banned. Users that do excessive chatting in #Nuthouse should be asked
to leave and banned if they continue, because excessive Chatting can
interfere with providing assistance to other users.
[10] Users who idle excessively may be removed by a short ban if
necessary. [It would only be necessary if the number of users reaches
the current channel limit]. You do not need a reason to be in #Nuthouse.
Users are welcome to join #Nuthouse and observe, if they so wish.
Operators have the right to remove any user if they have proven to be
disruptive in the past, and there's a strong possibility of being
disruptive again.
