Abuse 1 - ^Arianna/#botnet
Verdict: Not Guilty
Oper-Com decision: July 12, 1999

Opercom received two complaints against ChatNet IRC Operator ^Arianna on
July 5 and 6.  The complaints are as follows:

Complaint on July 5:

>Contact_Nick: steve
>
>About: I went to #nuthouse to try to get ops back in #botnet,
>there was a split and I got disconnected and it got all screwed up.
^Arianna set the channel -i and let a bunch of takeover bots in and then
refused to give me ops and left.  They eventually got it - no way to get
ops back.  Basically instead of helping me arianna helped the channel get
taken over.  Not cool.  BTW: there were no real people in the channel just
bots so no one was protesting that i get ops.  No one else in #nuthouse
offered any help or even answered me.

Complaint on July 6:

>Contact_Nick: Steve

>Contact_Email: marinecl@erols.com

>About: I complained yesterday about not getting abou #botnet and in fact
got the opposite.  Today I got back in the channel (aparantly a bunch of
bots left but there are still 3 in there) and tried to get help from
someone else like you suggested and all i got were lies and kick banned
from #nuthosue.  This is worse than what happened yesterday.  ^Arianna lied
about setting the channel -i and kept saying i didn't do that i have logs
(logs mean nothing - changing the mode with chatworld because she would
have to change it before she could enter).  By admitting she has logs she
admits she was in the channel, by admitting she was in the channel she
admits she changed it because she couldn't have joined otherwise.   I
didn't even do anything I just asked for help from others and they banned
me.  What is wrong with you people?

The appropriate charge for the offense cited by the user:

^Arianna has been allegedly interfering with channel operation by
refusing/hindering the help process and using ChatWorld to mode channels.

With statements from ^Arianna in her own defense and the lack of
substantial evidence, the oper committee has voted ^Arianna not guilty of
this charge.  The members of opercom believe however that ^Arianna should
have conducted herself in a more professional manner, despite the complaints
against her and the status of #botnet.
